Two bookies have stopped working in High Court quotes to block proposed extensions to rival wagering shops in Belfast.

A judge dismissed attempts by both Ladbrokes and McClean bookmakers to judicially examine planning choices in favour of Toals and Sean Graham.

During the case the two business acknowledged their interest as commercial rivals.

Points were also raised about compliance with policies protecting a sanctuary.

But counsel for Sean Graham argued that the legal difficulty was the act of a dissatisfied competitor, interested in the effect on its own business.

According to the Planning Service’s legal representatives, neither proposed development includes modifications to buildings visible from the street.

Following the decision, Sean Graham bookies, which use 150 personnel in 30 shops throughout Northern Ireland, described its blueprint for modern premises and more tasks.

Speaking outside the yohaig code court, general manager Chris Deery said: “We are very eager to progress with our prepare for an extended King Street/Castle Street which will enhance the consumer experience and aid to revitalise the immediate location as well as bringing additional employment.”

Mr Deery included that the business was now aiming to continue with the extensions “as quickly as possible”.
